I would like to take this time to officially announce Game #118 that will be played on The Gaming Beatdown. Starting February 4th, 2017, it is Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop DIstance HD. This is the tenth game of the Season #6 of Lets Play Nights games. It is also the seventh game of the Kingdom Hearts series to be played on the channel.
Our little Kingdom Hearts marathon continues. This time we begin our dive with the newly released collection, Kingdom Hearts HD II.8 Final Chapter Prologue. Our first title in the collection is our next game to be played in the series. Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance HD. A high-definition remake of the 3DS game from 2012.
Anticipating Master Xehanort's return following the defeat of his Heartless Ansem and Nobody Xemnas, Yen Sid puts Sora and Riku through a Mark of Mastery exam to deem them Keyblade Masters and counter Xehanort. For the exam, they are sent to worlds that were restored at the end of the first game, albeit in a "sleeping" state disconnecting them from other worlds. These worlds are inhabited by Dream Eaters, creatures born from darkness that seek out the Keyholes of Sleep found there. Sora and Riku's task is to reawaken the sleeping worlds by unlocking the seven Keyholes of Sleep, and then return to the realm of light; they are advised to create benevolent "Spirit" Dream Eaters to guide them and battle the malevolent "Nightmare" Dream Eaters.
Dream Drop Distance is one of my favorite games in the series, just do to how fun the game's combat is. Is this the perfect Kingdom Hearts game? No, it does feature some flaws but it is still a very enjoyable experience. This was defiently one of the games I've been wanting to playthrough on the channel for a very long time. But because the game for a few years was exclusive on the 3DS, it made it tougher to do a live stream with, because of not having a Nintendo 3DS capture device or any ways to capture footage. So following the release of Kingdom Hearts 1.5 and 2.5, fans were hoping that Dream Drop Distance would get re-released to home consoles. Sure enough Square-Enix did that, by putting it into 2.8. So thank you Square for doing this.
Also the clarify something, yes I will be playing the game on Proud Mode, since this is my first file of the game, It's the hardest difficulty I can play on until I beat the game once. It's also the easiest difficulty to unlock the special ending for the game, which I plan to do. Also I will be battling the bonus boss at the end of the game, I have never actually fought him in the 3DS version, so this is my first time actually attempting to beating him. So that should be fun. I can't wait to "DIVE" into Dream Drop Distance, no pun required.
So with that guys, Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance HD is Game #118, begins on Saturday February 4th, 2017. It will also be played every Saturday/Monday Nights until it is completed only on The Gaming Beatdown.
